Celebrating 44 Years of Graeagle Mill Works Family Legacy

Every summer break and holiday, I slipped into my grandmother’s cozy coffee shop in the heart of Graeagle—barely tall enough to see over the counter—eager to learn her secrets. Launched in 1978, Graeagle Mill Works wasn’t about milling flour at all. It was a playful nod to the town’s history as a mill site and to the coffee “mill” that fueled our community.

A Timeline Kneaded in Love

  • 1978–1990 (12 Years): My grandmother, the shop’s second owner, transformed a modest coffee stop into a local haven. Walls lined with old-fashioned jars and colorful candies welcomed visitors who came first for her Market Spice tea and signature brews.
  • 1991–2014 (24 Years): My dad and step-mom carried the torch, expanding mornings of bagels, croissants, and muffins into a full-flavored menu of soups and sandwiches.
  • 2015–2022 (8 Years): I stepped behind the counter, adding breakfast plates, weekend BBQ, and—my favorite—Wednesday night live music before we closed our doors for good.

From Coffee & Candy to Community Cornerstone

The magic of Mill Works lay in simple ingredients, big flavors, and heartfelt hospitality. Over the decades, these crowd-pleasers became customer legends:

  • Fresh‐baked blueberry muffins and flaky croissants
  • Hearty mushroom leek soup for misty mountain mornings
  • Zesty pasta shrimp salad, inspired by lakeside picnics
  • Our famed cinnamon rolls, gooey with buttery swirls
  • One-pot taco soup, comfort food perfected
  • Seasonal specials, including breakfast skillets and summer BBQ sandwiches

“Every recipe here carries a story—of family, community, and the generations who stirred them into being.”

Hi Soni! I have so many memories there at the Millworks. Before I decided to move to Graeagle, this is the place I went to meet people. Cathy was my savior in helping me find a place to call home the last 12+ years. And when you came along, I loved our time at Halloween and the Christmas festival. Lots of good memories and yummy food! I’d love to have the Pasta shrimp salad and clam chowder recipes. Wishing you the best always!
