Artist Statement

In this triptych graphite drawing, I intertwine tw0 distinct visages to reflect the multifaceted nature of identity. The graphite’s tonal range—from crisp highlights to velvety shadows—mirrors the ebb and flow of our inner worlds. By presenting the faces side by side, I explore how different aspects of the self coexist and converse in silent harmony.

Swirling organic shapes and floating bubbles drift between each panel, serving as visual metaphors for thoughts, memories, and emotions that connect us. The bubbles suggest moments of clarity or fleeting ideas, while the sinuous forms evoke the subconscious currents that carry us from one state of being to the next. Together, these elements create a rhythm of movement and stillness.

Within the textured graphite shading, hidden images peek through—symbols of buried stories and untold experiences. These concealed details reward close inspection, inviting viewers to slow down and uncover their own narratives. Ultimately, this work is a meditation on interconnection: how unseen forces bind our past, present, and future into a continuous, evolving tapestry.
