Apple Pie Breakfast kinda day!

I wasn’t going to post today. If you have nothing nice to say… don’t say anything at all. I have a lot to do today. Instead I am eating apple pie and drinking coffee.

I hope you had a great Easter. Spent time with family, were blessed with good food and had at least one hard boiled egg or deviled egg.

Eggs were not in my kinda day. Not plastic, or brightly colored, or even fried. I had a day old omelet that had been reheated from the day before. Does that count? I’m not trying to make you sad. Just thought it was funny.

I spent the day cleaning. Remember, Im not the kind of person that just sits around, so when I don’t know what to do I usually clean. Yesterday, it was some chairs, and a really dirty BBQ grill.

What? Yes. You heard me right I spent Easter Sunday elbow deep in black sludge from a BBQ that wasn’t even mine! However, I did do a great job!!!

The chairs. Well, I got them wiped down. I need to go to the hardware store and see if they have something to help them a little more than just wiping them down with TSP. Maybe, I will get to that on another day. They are L.Hancock original chairs. We will see what we can do with them.

So…. How did it get to be an apple pie kinda morning? Well, I supposed to go to Gerlach to spend Easter Sunday with my mom and some of her friends. The Super Sized apple pie and 50 dinner rolls never made it to Gerlach. Nor did I or my youngest daughter.

I woke up on Saturday morning with news that one of my very dear, lifelong friends had lost her husband overnight. I was so sad for her, I made plans to divert from Gerlach and go to Fernley so I could be with her in her time of need. So sad to see someone you care about in pain. They had a beautiful long partnership, an amazing son, and a life that was lived to the fullest. My heart goes out to the family at this time.

I didn’t have a car. I was in Reno with a girl friend. I called my youngest daughter and we decided that she would take the “food” and other supplies to Gerlach so that I could go and see my friend in her time of need. I drove my friend back to Portola and everything seemed to be working out fine…..

Than I got a phone call.

You know…… The kind of phone call that makes your heart drop out of your chest. All I could think of was the last emergency phone call I got from Nixon was when my oldest daughter was in a horrible car accident….. What was happening?

I was sick to my stomach. Filled with stress and anxiety. She wasn’t answering her phone. I didn’t know who to call or what to do…. I could only wait. Shasta had butt dialed Rey, Rey talked to Breanna, Breanna called me, Breanna called her dad, still nobody could get ahold of Shasta…….. Finally. We got phone calls. Shasta got pulled over for speeding in Nixon….. (shame on her we all know it is a speed trap, if you don’t know this and you ever find yourself in Nixon DO NOT SPEED!!!!)

Not a big deal right? Speeding ticket. We can do this. Calm down. Not a problem…… They are taking her to jail. There is a warrant out for her arrest! WHAT!?!?! Shasta? There is a warrant out for Shasta’s arrest…. Oh my. I’m in panic mode again! What about the puppy? What about her truck? She is on Tribal lands. Where are they taking her? What are the charges. How do you even call the jail…. That’s a new one on me. I start making phone calls, my cousin is LCSO. One of my really good friends is retired Sargent from Parr boulevard. Me….. I’m a wreck, they are taking my youngest to jail. Hand cuffs, back of the cop car, holding cell, kinda jail. Like the real thing. Not like your friend coming over and making your son sit in the back of the cop car to scare him kinda thing….. but going to JAIL kind thing!!!!!

There should be some kind of picture here or something…. because if you are still reading after all that I commend you.

If you know my adult children, you know that they are amazing human beings. Im not the kind of mom that just says that. I mean, they all work. Pay their own way. Have goals and ambitions… etc.

My Beautiful girls and I.

Shasta is going to jail. I still can not wrap my head around it. 19, beautiful, talented, hard worker, personable, IS GOING TO JAIL!

For…. Having a house party with 12 people, at her own house when she was 18 years old! Yupp….. You heard me right. $1000 bail for a 19 year old who invited some friends to a house, that was legally hers, when she was 18 years old!

She went to court. Paid her fines. Did community service. Zoomed all of her court dates and on June 11th (ish) of 2021 was cleared and sentencing was deferred as long as she didn’t get in any more trouble. How did we get to the part that there was a warrant out for her arrest and they were taking her to jail for a house party???????

She got home last night. I spent all day scrubbing with chemicals that I probably shouldn’t have been touching, Breanna came over and we had cookies for dinner. We talked many hours about how in the hell any of this is possible….. Did you ever go to a party when you were a teenager? oh….. at that party in the first place, she hadn’t even been drinking!

After she went to bed, I sat in the dark, watching sad movies and cried until I couldn’t stay awake any longer.

I woke up this morning wondering what direction to take. I checked the Grill to make sure it actually worked before I sold it. I took a shower and got dressed….. I was not going to write about this. There is nothing humorous about it. There is nothing inspiring about it. However, here I am… Spilling the beans.

Leave a comment and let me know you growing up house party stories…. I know I have some great ones….. but than again that is for another post! Fernley Municipal Court is in session this morning. Hopefully I will know more about what the F&$@ is going on later today!

I vow to NOT eat the whole Costco pie! They are huge. I promise I will do my best to nourish myself with something a little healthier at some point today!
